Finally saw it.

So yeah, I finally saw HTTYD2 on it's opening day. I've seen it twice already and I love it to pieces. The animation is better than the last one (which is saying A LOT), the voice casting was top notch as anyone would suspect from DreamWorks, and even the story has aged up along with the main characters. Does it mean it's the best sequel ever and lives up to the hype the director was comparing it to the Empire Strikes Back? ....No. That was the short answer. Here's the long one.
The movie takes risks in all the right ways with taking a few dark turns that really set up the universe and make it feel all the more real in a similar manner as live-action fantasy movies, but there are a couple problems a few people bring up.
The first and most obvious one is that the main villain isn't as credible as he was built up. Now Drago Bludvist was established quite nicely in the beginning of the movie but when he made a proper appearance a lot of people said he wasn't that strong of a character as the rest of the cast. I agree halfway with that statement (in a latter journal I'll go into a further analysis with my defense for How To Train Your Dragon 2 and its faults).
The second one that others noticed was the use of expositional dialogue in the movie. I can actually agree there were some moments I felt like they were long winded back stories that didn't need mentioning.
Those were the ones that people brought up the most but honestly I did not find them as problems and I believe there is a lot more to the film after seeing it more than once to see the things between the lines. I will go further of that soon and hopefully you can all stay tune for the final review.
